Underground Mine Circa 1900
Bucyrus underground machinery history traces back to 1826. Learn
about underground mining as you peer into a life-size replica of a
1900 mine tunnel entrance that features tools and utility
paraphernalia that were used at the time.
Shovel Dipper
Stand at the mouth of a life-size Bucyrus Shovel Dipper. One of
our actual dippers is just too large and weighs too much to be in
our museum; using a life size photo and 3-D modeling of the teeth
you get the real sense of just how large an 82 cubic yard dipper
really is. This is a great photo opportunity.
Scale Models of Bucyrus Machines
It's not easy to envision the mammoth size of Bucyrus machines;
so large they are only fully assembled in the field. Scale models
of Electric Mining Shovels, Walking Draglines, and Blasthole Drills
are displayed alongside pick-up trucks to appreciate the size of
the machines that fuel our future. View models of the Bucyrus rail
shovels responsible for digging the Panama Canal between 1904-1914;
the same kind of rail shovels that Teddy Roosevelt sat on.
Minerals of Mining
Bucyrus machines mine a multitude of minerals including coal,
copper, iron ore, oil sands, potash and trona. See how these
natural resources look at the mine site before they are
manufactured and processed and learn how these minerals are used
many everyday household products.
Bucyrus Memorabilia
Over 125 years of historical Bucyrus memorabilia can be found in
the Museum. The Bucyrus baseball team equipment of the early
1900's, historical Bucyrus logos, lab equipment are part of a large
collection of memorabilia that carries value because it carries the
Bucyrus name.
