Unique mainframe
The fabricated structure of the mainframe with cast hinge points
for ranging arms results in an extremely robust design providing
optimal protection to drive and control units. This sturdy heavy
frame is also the ideal anchor against the forces occurring during
driving of the shearer and cutting of coal or other minerals.
Modular design
The design of the shearer allows modular use of standardized
subassemblies. This facilitates customization of the shearer and
rapid replacement of modules during maintenance, minimizing
downtime and allowing long-term calculation of operating costs.
Haulage system
The various haulage systems for the Electra® Evo shearers are
designed for problem-free operation under even the most difficult
geological conditions. Design and material selection is undertaken
to achieve highest possible system availability, maximum service
life and high efficiency. Haulage speeds of up to 45 m/min support
mining rates of up to 5,000 t/h.
Industry-leading Automation
Bucyrus has developed a state-of-the-art distributed automation
system for the control, monitoring and protection of the shearer.
Its modular design - far ahead of any competitor system - allows it
to be configured to meet individual control needs, from basic
monitoring & protection to advanced automation & data
transmission.
Power and flexibility
With massive computer power installed and simple upgrade to new
features, Bucyrus shearer automation is fit for the future.
The Net is the Control
The shearer control system uses a state-of-the-art Ethernet bus,
resulting in a drastic reduction in wiring and a huge increase in
flexibility. There are no interfacing problems, as equipment
connected to the network only needs to be able to communicate via
Internet Protocol. Commissioning, maintenance, upgrades and
troubleshooting are much easier and faster, and equipment is
self-configuring. Flameproof housings are no longer required,
simplifying installation and speeding maintenance. New
intrinsically safe modules are based on standardized CIOS modules
(configurable input output system), resulting in a Plug and Play
approach to upgrades. No reprogramming is necessary. Remote control
and diagnosis are also possible for all components. Electra® Evo
shearers share a comprehensive range of microprocessor-based
equipment providing the most advanced levels of machine control and
health monitoring - including full face and gate-end
automation.
Safe and productive
Designed by the market leader in shearer automation, the
advanced Bucyrus automation package allows improved utilization of
manpower in a safe environment, with increased yield from any given
seam section, faster haulage speeds, improved face management, and
increased life of all longwall equipment including AFC and
shields.
